Stillness
There is something about storms that affects all of us. I suppose any large displays of nature would have a similar effect. Some people are terrified of them and others find them soothing. I have always found them peaceful. Whenever the rain and winds batter against the wooden window frames of my home and the thunder shakes the walls, I revel in the stillness. Maybe I assume that it forces others to slow down, get off the roads and just stop for a few moments. There are so few things now that can make the world slow down. Even storms don’t have the same power they once had. So any forced slowdown is a comfort. Not just a comfort… I might even go so far as to say gives me a gleeful satisfaction that something has made the worker bees take pause.
